If the Caribbean isle of Trinidad, not being believed by any, told you that she possessed a thriving underground hip-hop scene, and even further that that scene could produce even one of notable talent and considerable soul, she would need do naught but unfurl her fingers and reveal this particular son as proof.
Up and coming producer/song-writer/engineer OFF, a.k.a Andre Stewart, is presently the embodiment of the hammer cocked and waiting only for the sights to align, ready to fire his own brand of pre-cd soul inspired production at anyone within earshot. Invoking The Neptunes during some moods yet recalling Kanye during others, all the while keeping his artistic integrity and originality intact, the twenty-one year old hits it every time whether sampling or forging from scratch.
Having taught himself the basics of the business and experimented in a fledgling industry unknown by the mainstream for the better part of the last decade, this producer has very little to do with the conventions that bind and ultimately homogenize the thousands he calls colleagues.
Early 2006 saw OFF, in a show of dedication to his craft, emigrate to Florida in the U.S to begin a one year audio engineering degree and undoubtedly absorb all the influences associated with the home of hip-hop.
Now, with his Associates Degree in the Recording Arts in hand, he aims to extend himself into the business side of the music industry. Keep an eye on the internet for the latest from the youngster, an ear to the street wouldn't hurt either. Surprises are commonplace with this one.
