Jenny Lu has been writing poetry for as long as she can remember. None of her work has ever been published. But in 1999, one of her friends paid her the ultimate compliment and turned one of her poems into a song. She is currently majoring in Marine Biology and minoring in French at Florida Atlantic University but declares that poetry is still, and will always be, her first love.

In a Timin'

I feel it everyday
I know it's in the air
Every breath that escapes my young body
Is ever true, almost perfect, never rare

The moment will be big, so big
beyond my walls and me
Too far away to touch
Etched in my soul, tis destiny

Undisturbed, yet ever present
I am brave, I fear not
My solace and consolation
Is that it will, no matter what

To the universe I am barely there
But to my mother, I am all
Cooing in my ear to have patience
Help quiet the voices that call

Yes I am brave now
No choice but let it be
Cause only in a timin'
Will I ever be truly free
