More from Kevon ...
I was born on the 4th of November, 1982. I attended Arima Boys Government School, Holy Cross College and UWI School of Continuing Studies. In 2001, I entered West London College and then the Open University in London where I received a Diploma in Hotel & Catering Management and a Certificate in Social Sciences respectively.
In 2002, at age 20, I became one of the managers of a four-star London soul food restaurant called Ashbells. At Ashbells I helped plan events for Jill Scott, Patti Labelle, MosDef, Neneh Cherry, June Sarpong and others. I also helped organise the weekly speakeasy at Ashbells where I started singing and doing poetry.
After leaving Ashbells in 2004, I began working at P&M, ltd., an entertainment Public Relations Firm. At P&M, I worked on campaigns for RocaWear London, the Damon Dash launch Party and London rappers, Bronz N Blak.
I returned home in April 2005 and set up a production company called V2PROMO. V2 is a creative outlet for myself as well as other youth.
V2 is, in essence, a company that aims to produce youth oriented television shows, publish books and magazines, host live music/spoken word events and help develop young talent through image consultancy and entertainment management.
Since returning home I have also been Junior Manager at the restaurant, a la Bastille. At present, I am a Career Enhancement Facilitator at YTEPP and also serve as Volunteerism Promoter at the Trinidad & Tobago YMCA.
Plans for the future
In 2007, I hope to:
- Publish a slim book of poetry entitled "Positive Vibrations"
- Launch the "Positive Vibrations Clothing Company" clothing line
- Host workshops for 15 - 18 year olds in the areas of Graphic Arts, Editing, Journalism / Creative writing and Event Management
- Produce a talk show highlighting youth achievements and views
Advice to young aspiring artists
To all young people out there..."If you dream it you can acheive it."
We need to get out of the passenger seat, take the wheel and drive to success.
Achievements & Awards
I have performed at various song and spoken word events across London and am currently in talks with various local publications to produce entertainment articles.

Capitalist
Your aim is global domination,
Pumping smoke into the air, without consideration.
Making millions, the only motivation.
Testing products on animals seems to give satisfaction.
Pouring dyes into rivers, causing contamination.
Cutting down the Amazon, aiding deforestation.
Cloro-floro-carbons continue circulation,
Resulting in further ozone depletion.
This is not progress but a misconception,
To mother Earth you bring devastation.
Ice caps melting, what a scary revelation,
You care not and focus on money multiplication.
EQUALS ???
Far away form here,
The children are dying.
Yet we in the west don't seem to care.
Gifts made from child labour, we are buying.
So important, is that Caribbean holiday,
Who cares about that innocent being stoned?
Starvation everywhere, yet designer clothes consumes our pay.
To keep our luxurious possessions, we secure another loan.
We know not of fetching dirty water,
From our taps we have a fresh supply to drink.
Our food, we don't have to hunt and slaughter.
While ingesting caviar, of the less fortunate we should think.
In our Western world there is no war,
Bullets and stones in the street we do not fear.
To the clubs we freely go and crowd the dance floor.
Yet a few hours plane ride away, landmines are crippling them there.
Everyone asks, what can one person do?
Make such a difference, that's for sure.
Instead of throwing it away, to Oxfam donate that shoe.
We have it so easy we forget the hardships others endure.
LEADER ???
We give you,
too much power.
Give you our votes.
Now missiles you want to shower.
Public transport,
you do not frequent.
So if lives are lost, due to terrorism,
all you offer is regret.
You children,
will not have to go to war.
You talk of peace on television,
while we bury our brethren.
