More from Laura...
I've been doing graphic design since I was 12, and the first software I used was Corel PhotoPaint 5. Years later Adobe somehow ended up on the family computer and I made the jump to Photoshop. When I was 18 and now out of school I got my first job at a production company doing graphics and dabbling in computer animation. I eventually left that job, and became employed with another animation company, studied a small amount of more advanced animation software but continued with graphic design and began teaching myself how to use Macromedia Flash. After a year and a half there, I left and started working as a website designer at a business on Maraval Road. After a bit more than a year there I left so I could work at home doing what I do best, and be with my newborn son.
Throughout my pregnancy I started experimenting with self-portraiture. By the time my son was 4 months old I had my first dSLR camera. That was in February 2007. We are in June and photography has become my main job doing portraiture at my home. My inspiration comes from alot of different photographers who I have found online, Phillip Warner being my main influence.
For all these years gone by, I have been drawing and painting, due to coming from a very artistic family. I have had one exhibition ("Deluge" back in 2003) with fellow artist Sarah Chong Sing, and even though I don't have much time to get back into it, I have plans in the back of my head to have another exhibition in the near future.
