More from Meera...
I would have to say my biggest influences are my parents.  My mom has passed away, but was very positive with me and my father is still going strong even at an age he should be retired.  They taught me discipline, independence, respect, empathy and just how to be a strong and confident good person.

I have a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.  I have also attended an intensive summer acting course at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood.  Currently, I'm attending the Houston Academy of Dramatic Arts.  I'm a radio DJ for 104.1 KRBE in Houston.  I have also worked in television as a host and entertainment and traffic reporter. I got my start as a model which gave me confidence to pursue the realms of film, television and radio. My dream is to work as an actress on the big screen and really put Trinidad on the map.....MTV helped, but I'm gonna make it happen for sure! I'm also a huge animal lover and volunteer at the Houston SPCA. My dog Shane is now 13.  I have had other pets, most recently, my dog Gizzmo passed away and I miss her!

Advice to young artists
My advice to a young artist is to take any job you can in this industry to soak up the information and gain experience.  Plus, get an education, it pays off in the long and like my dad always says, no one can ever take it away from you.  You can read my interview at rajamagazine.com click on interviews and you will find my name Meera Nandlal.  Good luck and hopefully I will be visiting Trinidad soon.

Achievements & Awards
Just to give you an idea of my work here are just some of my accomplishments: I have represented my radio station on the national tv show, "The Weakest Link," on their radio DJ show, October model for Women of Texas regional calendar for Coors Light, print model for Dillards Department store, VTEL computer brochure (model) and various television, radio and film credits including my first independent film,"Clean People," where I starred as "Meg."
